The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the most important traditional Chinese holidays, celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. It is a time for family reunion, expressing gratitude, and celebrating the harvest season. Marked by various customs, the festival brings people together to admire the full moon, enjoy mooncakes (a round pastry symbolizing unity), light lanterns, and share stories like the legend of Chang'e, the moon goddess. It's also a moment to wish for prosperity, happiness, and togetherness.
This year, our students embraced the Mid-Autumn Festival with a range of fun and educational activities that made the celebration both meaningful and enjoyable.
The students kicked off the festivities by learning how to make mooncakes, a delicious and symbolic treat of the festival. The activity was both a hands-on experience and a chance to connect with a timeless tradition.
In the spirit of the holiday, students also created a "Wish Wall", where they shared their hopes and dreams under the symbolic full moon. They crafted personalized wish cards using paper clips, which were proudly displayed on the wall, reminding everyone of the festival's themes of hope and unity.
Dressed in elegant Hanfu, the students brought the celebration to life with their vibrant traditional attire, adding an authentic cultural touch to the event. Lantern-making was another highlight, as students made colorful lanterns to symbolize light, joy, and the bright future ahead.
The day was filled with laughter and excitement as students played traditional festival games like pitch-pot, ring toss, and "Fishing for the Moon". These games were not only fun but also provided an interactive way to learn more about Chinese customs and traditions.
The Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at our school was a wonderful opportunity for students to explore Chinese heritage while participating in meaningful activities. The blend of tradition, creativity, and joy made it a memorable experience, leaving everyone with warm hearts and a deeper appreciation for this beautiful festival.
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to all! May the full moon bring you peace, happiness, and togetherness.
