Celebrating Chinese New Year: Year of the Dragon

As the vibrant colors of lanterns lit up the streets and the rhythmic beat of drums filled the air, students at Mun Lun School embraced the festivities of Chinese New Year, marking the dawn of the Year of the Dragon with a myriad of enriching activities.

At Mun Lun School, the celebration of Chinese New Year extended far beyond mere observance; it was a time for students to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Chinese culture, learning about the significance of this auspicious event and the traditions that accompany it. From exploring the symbolism behind the red pockets, which symbolize good luck and prosperity, to delving into the intricacies of traditional customs, students embarked on a journey of cultural discovery.

One highlight of the celebrations was the opportunity for students to showcase their talents at the Chinese Year Night event in Chinatown 2024. With great honor, students from Mun Lun School took to the stage, captivating the audience with their performances that reflected the essence of Chinese heritage.

The afternoon class of second graders, with their performance titled "中华是我家" (China is My Home), expressed a deep sense of pride and belonging to their cultural roots. Meanwhile, the first-grade weekend class presented "宝贝中国范" (Treasures of China), a delightful display of Chinese cultural treasures cherished by the young hearts. The afternoon first-grade class, through their performance "半生雪" (Half a Lifetime of Snow), beautifully depicted the resilience and endurance ingrained in Chinese culture. And finally, the student choir, with their rendition of "隐形的翅膀" (Invisible Wings), soared high, symbolizing the aspirations and dreams of the younger generation.

Through these performances and activities, students not only celebrated the joyous occasion of Chinese New Year but also gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for their cultural heritage.
